Biography
Zhe Xu is a Walter Benjamin Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Media and Communication at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). His research focuses on crisis communication and computational social science, with a particular emphasis on humanitarian crises. He uses computational methods to analyze news corpora and digital trace data, examining how information mediates humanitarian crises and shapes public attitudes and behavior. He is also interested in the platformization of humanitarian communication, including the applications and ethical implications of AI and virtual reality in crisis contexts. He was previously a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
