Joanna Sleigh

Dr. Joanna Sleigh is a post-doctoral researcher at ETH Zurich, working at the intersection of ethics, technology, and communication. Her current research focuses on developing digital tools, such as large language models (LLMs), to assist with ethical deliberation and decision-making. Her doctoral work at ETH Zurich involved creating interactive visualizations of ethical frameworks for governing health data, with the goal of making complex ethical issues more understandable to promote responsible data use in health research. Dr. Sleigh uses an interdisciplinary approach, drawing from media anthropology, visual studies, and digital methods. In addition to her research, she is the communications director of the AI Ethics and Policy Network and is involved in various artistic and public engagement projects. Her key research interests include the ethics of emerging technologies, human-centered design for ethical innovation, and knowledge visualization.
