Biography
Pradipta Mukherjee is a journalist and editor with more than 20 years of experience covering technology, business, economics, climate and international affairs. She spent 11 years with Bloomberg News and now reports on how technology is reshaping societies, economies and everyday life, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and its impact across Asia.
Her recent work examines AI, climate technology, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, emerging technologies and the social questions raised by increasingly intelligent systems. She is particularly interested in the ways AI is changing human relationships, work, access to information and systems of authority, and in how these changes are experienced outside the major technology centres of the US and Europe. Her work combines rigorous journalism with an interest in making technology coverage more relevant, nuanced and grounded in people’s lived experiences.
At the Public Tech Media Lab, Pradipta hopes to explore how journalists can better investigate and explain the public consequences of emerging technologies. She is interested in developing stories and research around AI’s impact on society, particularly in Asia and the Global South. She also looks forward to collaborating with researchers, journalists and other Lab members to make complex technology issues accessible to wider audiences.
