Bio

Matt Lawrence is a professional intelligencer turned practitioner-academic. He started his career in the British Army’s Intelligence Corps before crafting intelligence tradecraft around tech and data in the private sector. Over the last few years, he has been working alongside the online investigative community as a director at the Center for Information Resilience, and he now works for Karve International at the intersection between public and private sector capability. While moving through these different sectors of what might be called the OSINT practitioner echo-system, Matt was struck by the differences that exist in both foundational doctrine and motivation. These differences (and the overlapping interests and opportunities they obscure) prompted Matt to begin working on a doctoral research project attempting to map disparity and overlap in OSINT practice with a view to promoting cooperation and integration between differing communities of practice.
