Biography
Sang Jung Kim studies how AI, social media, and emerging technologies shape public understanding and social boundaries. She combines computational and experimental methods and develops research tools and experimental infrastructure to study how people encounter and respond to information in contemporary media environments.
She is Co-Director of the Visual Media Lab, where she develops interdisciplinary conversations around visual evidence, emerging technologies, and public knowledge. She co-launched The State of Visual Evidence symposium and its corresponding special issue in Visual Media Quarterly. She also serves on the editorial board of Digital Journalism and as Social Media Editor for The International Journal of Press/Politics. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
