Biography

Lucas Graves is Distinguished Researcher at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He has been at the forefront of research on the global fact-checking movement and is the author of Deciding What’s True: The Rise of Political Fact-Checking in American Journalism (2016, Columbia University Press). His work has appeared in the New York Times, the Columbia Journalism Review, the Nieman Journalism Lab, Wired, and many scholarly journals. He is a research associate at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University, where he previously served as acting Director of Research.
