Zening Duan

Zening (“Ze”) Duan is Presidential Young Professor (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Communications and New Media at the National University of Singapore. He is affiliated with the NUS Artificial Intelligence Institute, the Public Tech Media Lab, and an Honorary Fellow at the UW-Madison’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

His research examines media ecosystems, emerging technologies, and public attention on digital platforms, particularly in relation to contentious public affairs in the United States, Asia, and the global information environment. His work develops and applies computational approaches, including AI-enabled frameworks for social science research, to understand what attracts, shapes, and distorts public attention and how algorithm-rich information environments can support rational and critical civic discourse.
