Sybil Yanshu Wang is a Ph.D. student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research explores how the public understands and interacts with artificial intelligence, with a focus on AI literacy, metaphorical framing, and public discourse. She is currently examining how AI metaphors shape perceptions of trust, risk, and anthropomorphism, and conducting experimental work on how AI-generated content impacts the psychology and behavior of young people and marginalized communities. Sybil uses a mixed-methods approach that combines computational analysis, discourse studies, and survey experiments. Her work aims to inform more inclusive, transparent, and socially grounded approaches to AI development and communication.
