Djordje Padejski is Associate Director of the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships and a Lecturer in the Journalism Program at Stanford University. His work focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence, journalism, and news media ecosystems. He teaches courses on AI and journalism at Stanford and leads initiatives on media innovation, and computational methods in journalism and communication. Before joining Stanford, Djordje worked as an investigative journalist and editor with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), the Center for Investigative Reporting, OCCRP, and the Center for Investigative Journalism in Serbia (CINS), which he founded and led. He was part of the core ICIJ team behind Offshore Leaks, the first large-scale collaborative investigation of offshore tax havens. He also founded and developed FOIA Machine, an open-source public records tool now hosted by MuckRock, and has trained journalists worldwide in data and investigative journalism. He is a doctoral candidate at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, where his research examines the impact of AI technologies on journalism, including media narratives on AI and computational approaches to news analysis. His forthcoming book, Handbook: Investigating Artificial Intelligence for Journalists and Researchers, will be published in 2026.
