Biography
Sybil Wang is a PhD student in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research examines how people make sense of complex and contested issues in digital media environments, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, immigration, and political communication. She is especially interested in how cognitive shortcuts, framing, metaphors, and platform dynamics shape public understanding and engagement.
At the Lab, Sybil has been working on projects that use social media data and qualitative interviews to study public discourse, emerging technologies, and communication practices.
