Biography
Riddhi is a Media Fellow at the Public Tech Media Lab. Previously, she spent four years working as a tech journalist, covering startups, venture capital, AI, and climate. She completed her BA in Comparative Literature at UCL, and has a Master’s from the University of Oxford, where she specialised in the technological development and political economy of South Asia. She also completed a fellowship with the Oxford Climate Journalism Network.
At PTML, she is especially interested in exploring how open source tools and emerging technologies can be utilised for digital investigations. As the use of AI for journalistic purposes proliferates, it is equally important to evaluate the ethical dimensions of using this technology. Consequently, she is keen to examine how journalism can best be leveraged as a tool for public accountability, and concurrently explore how new technological developments in the newsroom can enable us to advance these mechanisms of justice.
She is also eager to bridge the gap between academia and journalism, by exploring how journalistic mediums can be used to disseminate valuable academic research (that may otherwise be confined to academic echo chambers) through the apt distributional channels and networks.
