Biography
Facundo Suenzo is a Teaching Professor at Universidad de San Andrés, in Argentina, where he serves as Director of the B.A. in Humanities. His research agenda sits at the intersection of the sociology of culture, media studies, and gender and sexuality studies, with a historically grounded focus on Argentina and Latin America, in comparative dialogue with global contexts. His work examines how communication technologies reshape affective practices, forms of sociability, schemas of desire, and regimes of visibility
Facundo holds a PhD in Media, Technology, and Society from Northwestern University. He previously earned a B.A. in Communication from Universidad de San Andrés (UdeSA) and an M.A. in Sociology of Culture and Cultural Analysis from EIDAES/UNSAM. He has been a fellow of the Sexualities Project at Northwestern (SPAN) and the Hunt-Simes Institute of Sexuality Studies (HISS) at the University of Sydney.
His research has received recognition from the American Sociological Association (ASA) and the International Communication Association (ICA) and has been published in international academic journals such as New Media & Society, Journalism, the International Journal of Communication, and Cuadernos.info. He is also co-author of the book The Patina of Distrust: What People Do with Misinformation (MIT Press, 2025).
He currently serves as Secretary for the LGBTQ+ Division of the International Communication Association.
