Bio
Irene Larraz is a journalist and researcher specializing in fact-checking, disinformation, and the use of artificial intelligence in journalism. She has worked as a journalist in Spain and several countries across Latin America, including at El Tiempo in Colombia, La Estrella de Panamá, Grupo Expansión, and Verificado in Mexico, Ecuador Chequea, and Voice of America. Since 2020, she has worked at Newtral, where she has coordinated fact-checking and data teams, as well as the Lab, Newtral’s innovation desk.
As a Media Fellow at the PTML, she plans to explore how AI and emerging technologies can strengthen public-interest journalism, particularly fact-checking, verification, and the resilience of news organizations against disinformation.
