Thursday, November 20. The corporate accelerator Innsomnia is organizing the First Hispano-American Forum on AI Applied to Journalism on December 10 and 11 at its hub in La Marina de Valencia. The event aims to establish itself as Spain’s leading space for the analysis of artificial intelligence in the communication sector. In its first edition, the forum will gather more than thirty innovation directors and senior executives from Spanish, U.S., and Latin American media outlets, as well as prominent tech companies, agencies, and startups.
The Forum, primarily aimed at informing and training journalists and communication professionals, will showcase how Spanish media organizations have integrated AI into their business models and newsrooms. It will also serve as a space for media leaders to express their concerns and reflections regarding this technology, considered the second major revolution of the 21st century. Confirmed Spanish speakers include innovation leaders and key executives from Agencia EFE, RTVE, PRISA, El Mundo, Grupo Godó, Prensa Ibérica, ABC, El Español, and El Confidencial.
In addition, as the Forum aspires to be international and a meeting point for the Spanish-speaking journalism sector, experts and representatives from the communication ecosystems of Latin America and the U.S. will join, including outlets and organizations such as Infobae, The Athletic (New York Times), and the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), as well as figures such as Tomás Dodds, director of the Public Tech Media Lab at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. On the business side, participants will include David Hurtado, Director of Innovation at Microsoft Spain; David Sancha, CIO of Xalok-Hiberus Media Labs; Belén Jódar, COO of the corporation; and representatives from Protecmedia.
The Forum will also host startups KnowHow2u, Inverbis Analytics, E-Journalism, and EntriiAnalytics—winners of the first Open Innovation Challenge for the Press organized by the Artificial Intelligence Cluster of the Community of Madrid in collaboration with Innsomnia. They will present technological solutions aiming to help journalism adapt to AI and digitalization. Senior executives from corporate communication agencies such as Kreab, Atrevia, Prodigioso Volcán, and Zeus by LLYC will also share their perspectives on how this technology is landing in the consulting sector. The program will conclude with a segment featuring digital directors and managers from major local media outlets such as Levante-EMV, Las Provincias, À Punt, Cadena SER Comunitat Valenciana, and Valencia Plaza, as well as practical workshops designed to train journalism professionals in AI tools they can apply in their daily work.
This First Hispano-American Forum on AI Applied to Journalism will be open to journalists and communication-sector professionals. Registration can be completed through its website (periodismo-ia.com), where the event will also be available via livestream.
