Public Tech Media Lab Partners with Factchequeado to Expand OSINT Training Access

Collaboration will bring AI and OSINT training to more Spanish-language and bilingual newsrooms.

The Public Tech Media Lab is announcing a new partnership with Factchequeado, a fact-checking organization that works with Latino and Hispanic communities across the United States. The partnership aims to expand access to AI and open-source intelligence (OSINT) training for journalists.

About the Partnership

Factchequeado currently provides fact-checked news stories to over 130 newsrooms across the United States in both Spanish and English. They’re the first fact-checking and media literacy organization in the US focused specifically on fighting disinformation in Spanish that affects Latino communities, with a presence in 25 states and Puerto Rico.

Through this partnership, the Public Tech Media Lab will leverage Factchequeado’s network to provide AI and OSINT training to journalists who have not previously had access to these resources.

“This partnership allows us to reach journalists who really need these tools but haven’t had a way to access them,” said Tomás Dodds, Director of the Public Tech Media Lab. “Working with Factchequeado means we can provide training in both English and Spanish to newsrooms that are doing essential work in their communities.”

What’s Next

The partnership will start by developing AI and OSINT training that fits the specific needs of journalists working in bilingual newsrooms and those serving Latino communities.

The collaboration reflects both organizations’ commitment to making sure technological resources in journalism are available to everyone, regardless of the language they work in or where they’re located.
